Hammond Golf Course, located in the village of Hammond was designed by Art Tangen in 1968 who has designed numerous courses in Western Wisconsin including Hallie Golf Course in Chippewa Falls where he was the head professional for many years as well as the Neillsville Country Club in Neillsville, Wisconsin. Centrally located between Hudson and Menomonie and approximately 20 miles from each, the open to the public Hammond GC is easily accessible from the surrounding area as interstate 94 is a scant 2 - 1/2 miles from the village. Ground was broken in the spring of 1969 using community funds, grants, and a plethora of volunteers. The end result is a beautiful layout that opened for play in the summer of 1970 to rave reviews. Upon its inception, foliage was sparse, however, over the years hundreds of hardwoods and pines have been planted to clearly define fairways and dispel the philosophy that trees are 90% air. The carpeted fairways are lush and thick and the enormous greens hold a well struck shot very well. Superintendent Doug Ofstie and his staff have been meticulous in grooming the golf course to the point where it is one of the most well kept courses in the area. Hammond Golf Course boasts one of the finest driving ranges in the area having a length well over 300 yards and can accommodate up to 20 golfers at one time intent on improving their games. The range is approximately 50 yards wide and has two tiers. A class operation. After your round you will enjoy visiting Hammond's 19th hole for refreshments, snacks, sandwiches, hamburgers and our friendly staff. While we do have a kitchen, we are limited in our ability to serve large groups of guests, but you are still encouraged to hold corporate outings, wedding receptions, and birthday parties at our facility as caterers in the area will be more than accommodating in your requirements for furnishing the food. Banquet facilties will easily accommodate up to 75 guests. The staff of the Hammond Golf Club look forward to serving you and your family.
